My life work is committed to supporting student success, public education, and teachers. As your school board member, my commitment is to guide Northside ISD to achieve excellence in all areas. Past successes include:

  • Reduced the tax burden

  • Approved funding for safety and security measures at all campuses

  • Increased teacher salaries and benefits

  • Established magnet school for teachers to support teacher recruitment

  • Renovated aging campuses and replaced obsolete building infrastructure

  • Expanded school choice through new magnet and academy programs

  • Defined clear career paths for students through elementary STEM labs, middle school programs, high school certifications, and university partnerships

  • Created new business partnerships to get industry and government mentors and programs in the classroom to support teachers

About Bobby

Bobby Blount was elected to the Northside ISD Board of Trustees in 1999. He is currently the President of the Bexar County School Boards Coalition, the Texas Caucus of Black School Board Members, and the Go Public campaign. He is a proud graduate of the Leadership of the Texas Association of School Board (TASB) Leadership program and has achieve the esteemed position of “Master Trustee”.

Service to Country

Bobby Blount service to country began upon his graduation from the Air Force Academy. He served his country as an Air Force officer specializing in communications, computers, and cyber technologies. Upon his honorable discharge from the Air Force, Bobby continued to serve in the public interest as a senior leader of a nonprofit addressing our nation’s most challenging technical and engineering problems.

He is currently responsible for discovering and driving Texas based academia, small businesses, and industry innovation to address national problems.

Bobby is recognized as a national school board education leader and is active in efforts to improve the US education system through engagement in round tables and townhall sessions across the US.

Service to Community

Bobby is known as a leader in Northside ISD and the San Antonio area. He is the founder and Director of the Northside ISD Solar Race Car Event, the Department of Energy Regional Science Bowls and the Northside Soccer League. In these roles, he has directly supported over 25,000 youth. Bobby also serves on the executive board of the UP Partnership.

In addition to his education leadership, Bobby had a sustained involvement in San Antonio cyber security, economic growth, and athletic initiatives. He is Chair of the San Antonio Area American Community Fund.

In recognition of his accomplishments, Bobby received the Public Relations Champion Del Oro Award from the San Antonio Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA). He was also honored as one of Northside ISD's Outstanding Mentors.

Bobby has earned several degrees including a law degree from George Mason University, a master's degree in systems management from St. Mary's University, and a bachelor's degree in engineering science from the United States Air Force Academy.

He and his wife Sandra are the proud parents of two children, both graduates of Communications Arts High School, with one also graduating from Stanford University.

Advocating for Students

Through state board legislative committees, identified education legislative priorities to determine public education funding needs and education opportunities for all students

  • Engaged with board, superintendent and staff to achieve goals identified in the community-led strategic plans

  • Presented and led town hall sessions locally and across Texas on student performance data
